The clinical nutrition course is a specialized course for in depth knowledge. Course is only meant for knowledge and not meant to replace; advice given by a qualified nutritionist.Foundation Course Content:

- Nutrition throughout the lifecycle

Clinical Nutrition Course Content:
- HEART– Hypertension, Atherosclerosis, Angina; Coronary Artery Disease
- DIABETES MELLITUS– Physiology of Endocrine Pancreas; Type 1 & type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, Types of Insulin and drugs
- THYROID– Physiology of Thyroid gland; Types of thyroid disease
- POLYCYSTIC OVARIAN DISEASE
- LUNGS– COPD, Bronchitis, Asthma, ARDS, Lung: Tuberculosis; Pneumonia
- BONE– Basic bone anatomy and formation, Rheumatic Arthritis; Osteo Arthritis
- BLOOD– Types of Anemias’, Coagulation, thrombocytopenia- Malaria/ Dengue, allergic reactions & Lymphomas
- KIDNEYS– Normal Structure, Physiology & Functions of Kidneys, Acute Kidney Disease, Nephrolithiasis, Glomerulonephritis, Gout, Chronic Kidney Disease
- GASTRO- INTESTINAL TRACT & ACCESSORY ORGANS– Esophagus- Dysphagia, Esophagitis, GERD, Hiatus Hernia, Stomach- Dyspepsia, Gastritis, Peptic Ulcer, Liver- Alcoholic (Acute & Chronic Disease), NASH, Hepatitis Jaundice), Gall Bladder- Cholecystitis & Cholelithiasis, Pancreas- Acute & Chronic Pancreatitis, Cystic Fibrosis, Small & Large Intestine- Dumping Syndrome, Ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s Disease, Constipation, Diarrhoea/ Typhoid, Lactose Intolerance, Gluten Sensitivity, Haemorrhoids, Steatorrhoea
Each disease condition will be discussed under the following parameters:
- Physiology (quick overview):This covers the normal structure and function of the organ. This will be revised in brief if covered in foundation course.
- Patho physiology:Explains the disease process at the organ site, and will cover the risk factors and causes for a particular disease. Definitions and terms that required to be explained will be included.
- Diagnosis: Will cover blood profiles and other diagnostic tests that are carried out to detect and diagnose a disease with normal value cut- offs’.
- Medical Nutrition Therapy:Will entail the clinical nutrition approach in handling a particular disease condition addressing all the parameters that are of concern. Will include newer guidelines based on latest research.
- Case studies and Assignments:Case study will include menu planning and making diet charts for a particular case. Assignments will involve reading up and collecting information on various topics based on latest information available.
- Common drugs: Names and basic role of action of few popular drugs will be explained under topics wherever applicable for added but essential knowledge.
Duration:
Nutrition Foundation – 2 months
Clinical Nutrition – 3.5 months
Assessment:
At the end of the course, you will have a viva, multiple choice online exam and a case study to submit.

- ESA’s Nutrition Foundation course completion certificate with ACSM continuing education credit hours
- ESA’s Clinical Nutrition course completion certificate with ACSM continuing education credit hours
